TMNT: Why We Love Being a Turtle

TMNT

With the upcoming release of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, we here at Comic Booked thought it might be a good time to give you a new infographic from our friends at HalloweenCostumes.com. With 30 years of Turtle history, you can imagine that things have changed quite a bit for our beloved teenage heroes in a half shell. It is cool to see the changes over the years, from the original Eastman and Laird sketches that were designed as a parody of ninja characters everywhere, to the dark and gritty comic series, to a more cartoonish look and feel. The story of TMNT is long and… well, storied, but has become something that is readily recognizable by nearly every generation.

Regardless of your thoughts on the upcoming movie, the Turtles are characters that many of us grew up watching and mimicking in our play. How many of you put on the bandanas and ran around the house with sticks, foam or plastic toy swords, or some other blunt object yelling “Cowabunga!” at the top of your lungs? A staple for Halloween and kids birthday parties, the Ninja Turtles are pop icons. I feel it will be an interesting thing to see how a live action movie will portray them, given the advancements in technology since the trilogy of films were released starting back in 1990. No matter where you stand on the fence of TMNT fandom, you can surely sing along with me as we say “Go, Ninja! Go, Ninja! GO!”
