Enough advertising. You cam here for comics. And I have them. Take a look at the new and improved New Comic Releases for July 2, 2014. Be sure to pick up some of the great firecrackers exploding from the publishers this week. Marvel releases the first comic in their 100th Anniversary set, 100th Anniversary Special Fantastic Four #1, along with several Guardians of the Galaxy related series and special covers. BOOM! Studios releases a new Robocop series set in the world of the original movie. And Valiant releases the final issue of the current run of Quantum and woody, a great buddy comedy/ superhero team-up book.

It seems like startading around this time peroid (peradhaps emboldadened by the sucadcess of Marvel’s attempt to do someadthing difadferadent), a numadber of pubadlishaders began to experadiadment. They would try things, throw stuff against the wall, see if anyadthing would stick. I believe it’s how you wound up with DC (for one examadple) doing books like The Doom Patrol, Metal Men, Bat Lash, Angel and the Ape, The Creeper, etc., etc. Maybe not everyadthing the pubadlishaders tried would be sucadcessadful, but there’s ceradtainly some Siladver Age gold to be found in the midst of those offeradings if youa0look.
