There Are Comic Books In Your Cereal

I don’t know about you, but I love reading while I’m eating my morning cereal. Whether it’s the news on my phone, a newspaper, a magazine or the ingredients on the side of the cereal box because I have nothing else around me, it is part of my ritual. It seems that General Mills knows this about people as, once again, they have teamed with DC Comics to include mini ashcan-sized comic books in their cereal boxes.

The Comic Books available this time around will be for the Justice League and they will be in “Honey Nut Cheerios, Multi Grain Cheerios, Trix, Lucky Charms, Cocoa Puffs and Cinnamon Toast Crunch (exclusively in Family Size)”, according to the General Mills Blog site.

The General Mills marketing manager, Lisa Kessel, spoke of this latest venture with DC Entertainment; “In brainstorming with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC, we were energized by the similarities and popularity of the Justice League characters and of our own cereal characters,” She said, and goes on; “DC shared that many of their artists were also huge cereal fans and we were excited to bring that love of cereal and the love of comics together in one holistic event.”

“Power Play,” “Dark Reflections,” “Truth Hurts,” and “Alien Justice.” are the titles of the four stories and exclusive comic books. The artist for this project is Ivan Reis.  He also designed the backs of the cereal boxes that, when lined up, create their own exclusive image.

Reis had a lot of fun working on this project, he says. “The Super Heroes are in a moment of celebration. Everything in it evokes an awesome vibe, just as you’re supposed to do to start a good morning,”

The limited edition boxes are available from now until the end of April. Pick some up and enjoy these exclusives with your morning bowl of cereal. I know I will!
