DC Comics adds two Batman titles in October

Gotham Academy

According to Entertainment Weekly today, DC has decided that the New 52 doesn’t have enough Batman titles.  But they are being pretty sneaky about what we’re going to be getting this October.  We have creative teams, a couple of images, and the titles.  But what does it mean?

Arkham Manor

Arkham Manor will be written by Gerry Dugan and drawn by Shawn Crystal, hitting the stands on October 1, and Gotham Academy is going to be written by both Becky Cloonan and Brenden Fletcher with artwork by Karl Kerschl, being released on October 22.  The Dugan title will focus on the transformation of Wayne Manor into the new Arkham Asylum, while the Cloonan and Fletcher title will focus on the prestigious Gotham prep school.  So the Deadpool guy is writing a wacky Batman villain book and the excellent artist and relative newcomer are writing a wacky Batman Gossip Girl crossover.  Or something like that.

Count me in.

As far as I’m concerned, DC could release 52 Batman titles a month and I’d be happy.  What do you think?  Let us know your reactions and your predictions in the comments section below!  (And join me in October when we add these two titles to the weekly Baturday column!)
