C2E2 Weekend Cosplay Crushed It!!! Chicago’s C2E2 started with a bang and ended with a kapow! Non-stop action, cosplay, artistry and fandom with great stuff for everyone – from Stan Lee to Max Brooks – everything was here! Cosplay was highly encouraged and a huge part of this convention. Large banners touting ‘Cosplay is NOT Consent’ with messaged zero tolerance of any bullying or offensive verbal comments strategically placed throughout the convention – getting the word out it was a safe place for cosplay and intended to stay that way.
Costumers, cosplayers, artistic representationists, reenactors and general costuming enthusiasts take their costume creating passion seriously and are definitely deserving of respect and a safe environment in which to express themselves and their artistic endeavors. C2E2 ensured this convention was that place – well done!!!
C2E2 weekend was full of panels, discussions, costume contest and the C2E2 Crown Championships of Cosplay to name a few among the vast sea of options. The purpose of cosplay corner is to provide mass photos of cosplay from the convention floor – providing as many people possible to see pictures of themselves and each other! Congrats, Groot, on your victory in the Crown Championships of Cosplay, fantastic job! Kudos to everyone in their costume glory – there were an incredible amount of interesting and not often seen cosplays present.
Note: Over the last year family cosplays have been on the rise. Not just normal family cosplays, but fantastic, well thought out group costuming that is so impressive – it is amazing to see the whole family get involved!!!
So many wonderful cosplay groups were involved in photo shoots, panels, meet and greets, costuming camaraderie and friendly con floor conversations that it super charged the area!!! We Are Cosplay provided cosplay triage in the Cospitality Lounge with their hot glue guns blazing and foam steaming all weekend. Glad you guys were there to provide immediate armor fixes and costume bandaids for all!
Popular panels included Jay and Silent Bob, Jason Momoa, Women of SHIELD, Orphan Black, Adult Swim, We Are Cosplay panel, CM Punk, Dr. Who, Game of Thrones and of course Stan Lee! Comic guests included Amanda Conner of Powergirl, Max Brooks of World War Z, Jerome Opena of Avengers, David Finch of Wonder Woman and Hilary Barta among others. Spotlight literary guests were headed by Charlaine Harris from the Sookie Stackhouse Series, Jim Butcher of the Dresden Files Series and Patrick Rothfuss of the Kingkiller Chronicle Trilogy.
C2E2 had SO many features for everyone this year, including Family HQ where families had activities geared towards younger enthusiasts, an Ink-Fusion Tattoo festival, Nerd Nite Speed Dating, a C2E2 Fan Villiage, Charity Art Auction, Cospitality Lounge sponsored by Autodesk Pixlr and C2E2 Live! powered by Twitch. SO AMAZING! If y’all didn’t make it this year, plan for next year, it is almost the perfect sweet spot – cosplay, comics, artists, writers, celebs – everything for everyone!
