C2E2, a Reed Pop production and one of the biggest conventions in the Midwest massively prepped community members for the big event 18-20 March! Soirees like the C2E2 Mardi Gras party, C2E2 official beer Galazy Hero launch event and Chicago St. Patricks Day Parade were among exciting pre-events held by convention coordinators. The local cosplay community We Are Cosplay worked in tandem with C2E2 and pumped up the volume with all genre local community cosplayers in each event.
Well known for it’s intense artist alley action, premiere panels, legendary cosplay guests and attendees that prep all year to get their characters just right for this major costuming and comic event, C2E2 did not disappoint.
Cosplay was just as epic in the hallway as the convention floor and rivaled Dragon Con, Comic-Con and New York. Photographers from around the country came in to snap pics and document the fantastically creative adorns that showed on the floor. Project-Nerd had Wes Smith, otherwise known as The Portrait Dude, on the ground level by the fountains all weekend providing free pictures! Luv those guys!
Group cosplays are the favor flav this year, and among the favs Warhammer, Inside Out, Clue, Disney, Obscure Batman Villains, CW, Teen Titans and Star Wars rocked it. Great area groups like Ghostbusters, CosAwesome Studios, Cosplayers of Wisconsin, The Age of the Geeks were there in force promoting camaraderie, respect and cosplay community spirit!
Make this convention on your road trip wish list next year, they’ve picked a date and now you know April 21-23, 2017 is on the books for C2E2 2017. Do what you got to do to make sure you’re here to witness the epic cosplay!
Totally 4.7 out of 5 because, well… it’s Chicago (love this town), artist alley rivals NYCC and seriously, ‘the cosplay.’ Nuff said!
