TELEVISION

We got our first look at FX’s upcoming Legion series.  Marvel also showed up with Ghost Rider and a teaser of his appearance on the new season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  Supergirl had a strong showing for the CW panel and we got to meet the new actor cast as Superman a bit more.  Legends of Tomorrow gave us some teasers.  AMC came in strong with a preview of the Walking Dead Season Seven.

MARVEL MOVIES

Thor sports a new, shorter haircut that will be what he wears for Thor: Ragnarok.  The panel in Hall H went crazy went the trailer was shown for the Thor movie. It showed Thor living with a roommate doing normal things and trying to figure out what is going on with the Infinity Gems.

Marvel also gave us a cosmically mystic and psychedelic look at Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange.  It is equal parts The Matrix and Inception.  Marvel also announced that Brie Larson will portray Captain Marvel in her own movie.  New cast members walked on stage with Chadwick Boseman and Lupita Nyong’O to flesh out the cast of Black Panther a bit more.  The other standout from Marvel was the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel news and teasers.  A preview was shown during the panel which depicted Yondu fighting a bunch of ravagers.  It was confirmed that Kurt Russell will be Star Lord’s father, none other than Ego The Living Planet.  Finally, Spider-man: Homecoming gave us confirmation of The Vulture as a villain and the reveal that this is a high school movie about this kid who is also Spider-man.

But prior to that, for each of these films, we will get to enjoy the brand new Marvel Studios opening intro and their brand new logo.

DC MOVIES

Not to be outdone by Marvel, and in the grand tradition of these two powerhouses vying for the coveting role of SDCC standout, DC gave us their own onslaught of trailers and reveals and releases.

First and foremost, the Justice League trailer gave us a lot more insight in to the film than we had previously.  It truly feels as though DC is steering their proverbial ship back on to its proper course and have infused the film with some color and light.

Gal Gadot truly shined in the trailer for Wonder Woman.  With its powerful Amazonian, glowing lasso, multi purpose shield and busting shackles, Wonder Woman is the standout from DC Entertainment this year.

Suicide Squad final trailer and more soundtrack mix debuted as well just before the opening weekend for the film, set for the beginning of August which highlighted Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

CONCLUSION

San Diego Comic Con  gave so much and did not dissapoint for 2016.  The Big Two, that is DC Comics and Marvel Comics, came hard and fast with the releases and unveilings.  We have so much to look forward to not only in the cinematic/television realm but in both comic books and in statues/toys as well.

The best thing I can say to summarize is that it is truly a good time to be a fan.
