Zombies Need Love Too! RIGAMORTIS – A Zombie Love Story

Zombies are everywhere these days:  movies, TV, classical literature; so it was only a matter of time before someone made a Zombie musical.

Wait no longer, that time is now.  RIGAMORTIS, A Zombie Love Story is now on the web.  “After humanity quells an undead uprising, the last two remaining zombies pair up in search of sanctuary, but instead find love.”

As much homage as spoof of the Zombie genre, this ultra-low budget production will appeal more to fans of musical theatre shows like Batboy and Sweeny Todd, than it will to Romero fans.  It’s all singing and dancing, and very little brain eating.  The production values went towards vocal studio work and choreography rehearsals and not as much into the special effects department.  Of course, if you are fan of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, you’ll appreciate the time spent.

Zoey,(Lisa Musser) is an idealistic young zombie, who doesn’t seem to have the urge to chew on the grey matter as much as she wants to sing.  Parker (Maxwell Glick), the object of affection to her unbeating heart, is a little more gung-ho about snacking on the brains of the living, but he allows himself to be talked into forgoing his natural diet (apparently even the undead will go along with a pretty face  if he thinks it will give him a shot at her.)

The two of them are in hiding from Brock (Boston Stergis) the hero of the almost zombie apocalypse, and one time paramour to the living Zoey.  Think one part Ash from Evil Dead, and one part Gaston from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.  He leads the townfolks after our undead lovers, but is he motivated out of concern for the living, or jealousy of the dead?

Will love win?  Or will the human race succeed in stomping out the zombie menace?  You can head over to their website to find out, because the entire film is available to be screened right on your computer for free.  It’s a short film, barely 40 minutes.  Certainly if you are fan of musicals or zombies it’s worth your time to check it out.
