Zombie Apocalypse hits Chicago – Mayhem!!!

chicago

World War Z hits the midwest during Chicago’s Zombie Apocalypse last weekend!  Newspapers claimed it was similar to 6 other Walker Stalker event sightings  witnessed in cities around the country; Dallas, Orlando, Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta and New York/New Jersey.

New zombies were seen at Walker Stalker Chicago, a new breed of black and white zombies never before caught by cameras was enthralling.  Hybrids?  They used this shock and awe to capture and mesmerize Greg Nicotero, tho, (I hope he’s ok – if not, The Walking Dead will sorely miss their special effects ‘genius’)…

Incredibly charismatic zombies stopped their gnashing of teeth on human flesh to pose for the camera, giving their best bulging eye and falling chin looks – fantastic!!!   A very scared yet charismatic family took time from running away from zombies to pose for a great photo, a timeless memory depicting their emotions and group camaraderie during their life and death existence.  Luv’d it!!!

There were SO many cosplayers and photographers it was incredible, never thought zombie and TWD cosplay was so popular!!!  Three fabulous photographers were there and truly encapsulated intense, uber creative mid-west cosplay!  Celebs included character actors of Carol, Tyreese, Carl, Michonne, T-Dog, Glenn, Beth, Abraham, Rosita, Tara, Eugene, Karen, Axel and Lizzie among many.   So many more were on hand to mingle, autograph and photog with everyone!  Great showing, so brave to be around zombies without protection, weapons or barbed wire!

If anyone ever questioned the mid-wests ability to prove their cosplay metal – after this event it is apparent they were made believers in the ‘never quit until you get it just right’ spirit that is Chicago.  Some of the best darn zombie cosplayers showed up and rocked it!  Walking Dead – here is your new slew of walkers for the show!!!  Who knows, maybe now that Beth and Tyreese are gone Walking Dead may even need more actors???  (Shameless plug:  consider mid-west cosplayers)

Matthew Sperzel, Brian Schultz, Michael Wilson (Chicago photographer) and Cliff Karrow showed extreme bravery in their photography duties while maneuvering through zombie throngs in order to provide expert photography documenting the flesh eating invasion.  Medals of valor for all!!!  Thank you brave men for your dedication to your duties of documentation and declaration of beauty in all things!

Thankfully, the zombies were driven out and since last monday the Chicago area has been declared a zombie free zone.  It’s taken me that long to get over the initial shock of the invasion, sorry for the delay in reporting about it…  Any evacuated citizens are welcome to return to their normal lives and routines as soon as possible.  Remain alert as these zombie invasions (Walker Stalker conventions) seem to return every year, bigger and more invasive every time!  Great cosplay opportunity if you like hanging eyeballs, exposed gum lines and blood soaked rotting flesh.  Keep on the radar for next year!!!
