Welcome To The Action Room

Jordamus Prime 01/14/2011 Features, ZDONOTUSE
Ah, 2011. You know, these days, geeks really seem to have it all. We’ve got television channels, clothing lines, and even entire stores devoted to our geeky lifestyles. With all of the great things going on in the world this millennium, I’d say it’s about time we had our own news radio show! Oh wait, that‘s right – we’ve already got one.

Since 2007, geeks everywhere have been tuning in (figuratively anyway) to The Action Room; the geek centric radio show and podcast. The Action Room posts a new Radiosode every week where hosts Tony Wolf and Producer Mike go over the latest news happenings involving anything even remotely geeky. From comic books to movies, video games and television; if it’s geeky in the slightest, The Action Room has got it covered!

The Action Room is essentially every geek’s dream radio talk show. Try and imagine all of the irreverent comedy of The Howard Stern Show (which the hosts of The Action Room have been featured on twice!) with all of the wacky antics and raw fandom of Attack Of The Show, all squeezed into a weekly ten-minute segment for your brain’s immediate consumption.  Co-host Tony Wolf says “Our mission is to bring a high-energy, unique comedic voice to the world of geek radio.” Luckily for fans, they succeed in spades.  Their show has featured radio comedy sketches like an interview with ‘Alan Moore‘ himself, (not the real Alan Moore but a killer vocal impression), the appearance of “Karaoke Snarf” (yes, that delightfully annoying Thundercats character) and a pissed-off Santa Claus!  The Action Room has also had geek trivia game show contests, and has featured guest-stars and correspondents like Marvel Comics writer Fred Van Lente (Incredible Hulk, Hercules, Taskmaster, and co-writer of the original “Cowboys & Aliens” graphic novel), Zoe Gulliksen (@bookishbelle on Twitter), Maria Palafox (@teenygeek), Alan Kistler (@SizzlerKistler), Dominique Agri (@ComicsPeriod) and many more.

The Action Room has new Radiosodes every Monday morning, with the occasional mid-week update (which they call “EXTRA ACTION!”), and often features special guests like acclaimed writer (and Comic Booked Writer Of The Year 2010) Mark Millar, actor William Sanderson (as seen in Blade Runner, Deadwood and most recently True Blood), DC Co-Publisher/Artist Jim Lee, and G4TV’s Olivia Munn! Patrick Meaney, director of the critically acclaimed documentary ’Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods,’ has been featured on the show twice! Over the past three years the series has even featured introductions from the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Stan Lee, Joss Whedon and Seth MacFarlane.

Beyond the boundaries of the weekly Radiosodes, The Action Room also features a ton of other cool content including Comedy Geek Headlines on Twitter (inspired by The Onion’s fake headlines), hilarious original video comedy sketches and even exclusive celebrity interviews from Amber Benson (Actress, Buffy The Vampire Slayer‘), Gemma Arterton (Actress, ‘Prince of Persia‘, ‘Clash of The Titans) and many more! No matter what aspects of geek culture you’re interested in, prepare to be entertained: The Action Room truly has something for everyone!

With tons of cool guest spots, comedy sketches and the more obvious perk of keeping up with industry news, you’d have to be one of the lamest geeks around to skip over The Action Room! Make sure you check out every Monday morning for their weekly Radiosodes! For a full listing of previous radiosodes, check out The Action Room Archive! The Action Room is also carried over on The Daily Blam.
