In celebration of the release of Cowboys & Aliens, we’ve decided to take a look at a few web comics that take place on other planets. With a never-ending universe out there, we are sure to see some interesting and amazing things.
If you’re new to this, here’s the scoop: Each Wednesday we will showcase five indie web comics. Each will be categorized and judged by ART, STORY and APPEAL. This will give you an opportunity to support indie artists and the amazing work they do.
This week’s comics will explore OTHER PLANETS. Without further ado, let’s GO!:
Story & Art: Holly Laing
About: In the year 2057, mankind came in contact with an alien of equal technology and sophistication, the Azatoth. On Earth, many rejoiced the news as a chance to learn more about the universe and the purpose of existence, while others feared the uncertainty of the change it would bring. Thankfully, the aliens showed no interest in creating conflict with the humans, and, for a few decades, relations between the two species prospered. Unfortunately, these prosperous times were not to last. After over fifty years of peace between the two species, a devastating attack was made. These events led to the beginning of the First Contact war, which continues to wage in the Milky Way galaxy.
Comic: Cleopatra In Spaaace!
Story & Art: Mike Maihack
About: Zapped away as a teenager from her home era of 52 BC, Cleopatra VII found herself in the middle of a centuries-long war in the far, far, really far, far future. Now, she fights alongside P.Y.R.A.M.I.D. (Pharaoh Yasiro’s Research And Military Initiative of Defense), both human and alienkind’s only hope against the evil Xaius Octavian.
Comic: Red’s Planet
Story & Art: Eddie Pittman
About: Red’s Planet is about a 10-year old girl who, much to her chagrin, is known to everyone as “Red.” After running away from her foster home, Red is mistakenly kidnapped by aliens. She soon finds herself across the galaxy, marooned on a deserted planet with an eclectic group of castaways who are much worse than her foster family.
Red’s Planet is an All-Ages graphic novel in-progress by cartoonist Eddie Pittman, who updates on an atypical schedule — Check the blog for updates.

Story & Art: CDC
About: Life On Forbez is the story of Par, a young alien who moves to the planet Forbez with his mother.
