Wasteland Weekend 2015

Wasteland Weekend, you had me at – costumes required.

Over 2,000 attendees converged in a desert wasteland to join in sculduggery and shenanigans occurring over a four-day post-apocalyptic festival.  Special Mad Max movie sets are built around the compound for a full immersion feel and post-apocalyptic vehicles are always highly encouraged.  Costume tips are provided and the insight is great to carry forward in conventions, cosplay groups or Halloween!

Living Beyond Thunderdome

Four days of living beyond Thunderdome in the dust and heat with little civilization during this Mad Max inspired events include: renown DJ action, fire dances, bonfires, Jugger (a post-apocalyptic bloodsport) and stunt and combat performers sharing the limelight with burlesque dancers, sideshows and circus acts.

Vehicles are brought in from all over the country to attend and enhance this event alongside a unique “Bartertown” – available for vendors and buyers.  The first Mad Max fan event was estimated to have occurred in 2004, morphing into Road Warrior Weekend which eventually became Wasteland Weekend, a full immersion event for festival attendees!

Photography Ops Are Endless

Photographer Cormac Kehoe artistically captured the World’s largest post-apocolyptic weekend festival in all it’s leather, dust and fleek glory!  Check out his snaps – amazing!!!

Wasteland related costume pictures and costume suggestions are pinned and available for reference!  Milwaukee is not only home to breweries, the Fonz and Harley Davidson, but also home to it’s very own Mad Max run – costumes and all!  Sunday, October 4th, if you live in or around Beer Town, get out of the way if you see a war rig coming down the street with rumbling power along side!  If you do hear Thunderdome approaching, the M2 run is coming up on so either get out of the way and enjoy the sight or speed up and move on out!
