Valiant Entertainment is at it again, getting their fans to do their promotional work for them.
Valiant, which will be launching a new line of comics in 2012 (including many of the characters from the original Valiant Universe of the early 1990s), has announced their latest guerrilla marketing campaign via their Facebook page. This time it’s a costume contest, just in time for both New York Comic Con and Halloween. Dress up as your favorite Valiant character and you could win an exclusive Valiant Tee Shirt.

This is only the latest in a series of promotional contests inviting fans to get involved in the company’s upcoming relaunch. Previous campaigns have asked fans to design their own relaunch poster artwork and to come up with a tagline for the impending superhero line. The grassroots approach to marketing was a key part of Valiant’s early success in 1991, when fans who sent in pictures of them doing things to help promote the fledgling comics company received special “Gold Logo” versions of Valiant Comics.
Valiant has also been aggressive about using social media like Facebook and Twitter to reach out and involve their fanbase, asking the fans to help get word out about Valiant’s plans for the upcoming relaunch.
