Top Ten Tuesday: Best Spider-Man Writers

Jeff Hill 06/24/2014 Features

Yes, I know…  I’m a huge DC nerd.  A fanatic, if you will.  But there is one character in the Marvel Universe that is and always will be one of my favorites: The Amazing Spider-Man.  He’s pretty much the only character I’ve (consistently) read and collected over my 20+ years of comic booking around the geek world.  And what better way to share that love than to give thanks to the writers who made him one of my favorite fictional characters, my absolute favorite Marvel character, and to be completely honest, the only character who comes even close to my unhealthy obsession with Batman.  So, without any further jibber-jabber, here are my top ten favorite Spider-Man writers of all time:

1. Stan Lee

2. David Michelinie

3. J. Michael Straczynski

4. Roger Stern

5. Brian Michael Bendis

6. Howard Mackie

7. Peter David

8. Mark Millar

9. J. M. DeMatteis

10. Gerry Conway

Spidey Green Goblin Alex Ross

So there you have it.  Agree?  Disagree?  Did I leave one of your favorites off the list?  Sound off below!

About The Author

Jeff Hill is a moderately reformed frat boy turned writer/teacher living the dream in Lincoln, Nebraska. He does freelance work and writes fiction, none of which is about corn or the husking of corn. His work has appeared in over a dozen publications and his mom has a binder full of printed copies for any doubters. Plus, he's the Chief Creative Officer of Comic Booked. So that's pretty neat, too.
