The Future of Marvel Now is XX?

Nick Furious 01/07/2013 Reviews

Welcome to the first Marvel Press Release of 2013!

As with Marvel’s usual cryptic messages we can speculate all we want about what this title will be and who will be involved but I’m gonna put my money on this NOT being an all female team, but simply the transition of either the appropriately self titled “X-Men” or “X-Factor” to the new Marvel Now! logo.  Both titles aren’t exactly blowing anyone away and they are in serious need of a kick-start.  What better time than April?  Here is the official press release.

The Future of Marvel NOW! Is XX.

Brian Wood.

Olivier Coipel.

I'm hoping it's not an X-Factor relaunch. It's the only Marvel book apart from Journey into Mystery above #200 and, even though Marvel disagrees, I like the high numbers to give me an idea of how much backstory there really is. As well, I really like Peter David doing X-Factor. There has been no news of its cancellation, whereas the adjectiveless X-Men has been cancelled and will probably get this reboot, if any existing title were to get it. Regardless, Wood and Coipel together have me intrigued… (Hmmm and Wood is also writing Dark Horse's new Star Wars title this week, which is now owned by Disney who owns Marvel… Yeah, I'm trying to start a rumor…)

In all honesty these cutesy little teasers aren't doing anything for me.

They're doing something all right. Making me less interested.
