The Force Gets Unleashed, For The Second Time

Comic Booked Guest Writer 10/25/2010 Reviews

Unless you are buried inside an asteroid that is  traveling outside our galaxy, you are  well aware that  The Force Unleashed II is being released on October 26th 2010, here in the United States.

If you played the first one, you know how good this game will turn out. I  was able to play the demo, and right at the beginning I was able to experience:  amazing force powers, lightsabers dancing graciously in the air, and of course limbs being …well you get the picture.

Check the trailer and TV spots:

As far as the plot, Wikipedia has the following:

The game will take place about seven months after the events of the first game, and a year before Star Wars Episode IV: A New HopeThe Force Unleashed II will be the “dark entry” in the series, and a more personal story for the game’s protagonist than the first game.

Players will once again control StarkillerDarth Vader‘s secret apprentice and the protagonist in the first game, who may be a clone. Starkiller escapes from captivity on Kamino. After eliminating his stormtrooper captors, Starkiller embarks on a quest to understand his identity and to find his love interest from the first game, Juno Eclipse. Meanwhile, Darth Vader has hired Boba Fett to track down Juno Eclipse to lure Starkiller out of hiding. Starkiller rescues Jedi Master Rahm Kota from a gladiator arena, and encountersYoda on Dagobah.

A new fighting style has been revealed which shows a more realistic style of fighting. As well, the targeting reticule has been shown, which is more precise and is now more defined. Also, lightsaber dismemberment has been confirmed.

The Force powers from the last game will return with a couple new ones. One of these is the mind trick, which makes enemies fight along side you or run off a ledge killing themselves, depending on the situation.

Anyone who purchases the collectors’ steel box special edition of the game will have the opportunity to play as the “original Starkiller” as designed by Ralph McQuarrie in early drafts of Star Wars.

Maulkiller

Those that make a pre-order for the game from participating Gamestop stores and website will be given a code to unlock the exclusive “Maulkiller” skin. This skin is said to be a creation of the DNA of Darth Maul and Galen Marek. Also included in the pre-order is a silver Lightsaber crystal which decreases force consumption. Maulkiller is only available for PS3 and Xbox 360. Also a rating for the game has been released. The games rating is T for teen for violence. Also a demo is to be released on the 12th of October of 2010. Players will also be able to play as “Guybrush Threepwood” from the Monkey Island series which will be a skin for Starkiller. To unlock that skin you must destroy the three special slot machines right before you get to the bride leading the the arena on Cato Neimoidia.

So we have YOda, Boba Fett ,and a bunch of clones… sounds like fun!!
