2011 has been by far my favorite year of existence. Unless you live under a rock, or are a complete and delusional narcissist, how amazing a year is comes down to how amazing the people you share it with are. Needless to say, in a year this amazing, I’ve clearly spent it with some pretty amazing people. As such I’d like to take some time to thanks these awesome people in a blog for you.
First and foremost I need to thank my fellow DIYers for opening up their lives to me and inviting me in so warmly to their inspiring everyday world of personal and professional bohemian comics bliss. I love you guys, so Steve Niles, Monica Richards, Mike Mignola, Lance Henriksen, Scott Morse, Bill Sienkiewicz, David Mack, Michael Allred, Jim Mahfood, Jill Thompson, Kevin Eastman, Digger T Mesch, here’s to you and all your lovely friends and family. Thank you so much for being everything I dreamed could exist but feared could never exist in our fast paced world of cold corporate logic.
(Along that vein, a grinning thank you to Warren Ellis for keeping it fun, Spider Jerusalem is still my homeboy.)
Next a big thank you to Mel, Dennis, Rachel, Tim and all of Archaia. There is no end to how much I love partying with you after work. I have a feeling we’re gonna be going the same way again this next year and I can’t wait. Also huge thanks to Tim, you name the panel I’ll be there.

Whether it be dancing and singing along with you guys at the Lopez show and all those crazy concerts this year, or just chilling out back of Meltdown with you and Ray while smoking and Smashing Pumpkins singing/pantomiming goes down, it’s definitely been a blast. (It was “Disarm” by the way, for the curious.)

Next, a great warm enveloping grin of happy thanks to all my beautiful and talented fellow Womanthology ladies across the land and everyone who helped make our dream come true!! WE DID IT!!!!
Then, another great and warm smile of thanks to all my fellow members here at Comic Booked, you know. For just letting me go forth and do pretty much whatever I want for you guys and our industry. We’ve moved mountains together in 2011, at the speed of eagles. 2012, same thing.
And finally, one great big thank you to my dear cousin and faithfully tireless partner in crime, the one, the only, Cousin Matt. Thank you for always having my back, no matter the who, no matter the what. We’ll face it together, and kick it’s ass. – N
(And now some words of thanks from the rest of the Comic Booked Team!!)
“Thanks and major kudos to director Patrick Meaney and the whole team at Respect Films/Sequart. The bar has been raised for documentaries on the comic industry. Talking With Gods & Captured Ghosts are excellent films on the careers of comic professionals that convey the artistic achievements of these creators and properly reflect the nature of the community surrounding them. Everyone should check out Patrick’s work and support this more insightful approach to discussions about comics.” - Emmet O’Cuana
“Comic Booked’s New York Comic Con team would like to take a moment to thank Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie, Dan Slott, Tom DeFalco, Peter David, Matt Fraction, Rob Liefeld and Felicia Day for their time at the con. Whether it was for an interview or just a chat in Artist Alley, you guys made an already awesome convention truly memorable. Also deserving of our sincere gratitude is Dax Ginn and the Rocksteady team, who provided us with an awesome preview of Batman: Arkham City. And we would certainly be remiss if we didn’t also take a moment to acknowledge the all-star PR team from Dark Horse Comics. So thanks to Aub Driver and Jim Gibbons, not only for everything you’ve done for us over the past year, but for simply being a pleasure to work with.” - Nick Cavicchio and Jordan DesJardins
