SuperSunday: 1/15/17 in Superman

SuperSunday

Welcome to another thrilling (and quite large) installment of SuperSunday!  I’m here each and every weekend to give you the run-down and my thoughts on all of the Superman and Superman-related releases that DC puts out.  Here are my thoughts for week two of 2017:

Earth 2: Society #20 – My Rating: 4/5

Red Hood and the Outlaws #6 – My Rating: 5/5

Justice League of America: Vixen: Rebirth #1 (One-Shot) – My Rating: 4/5

Justice League Vs Suicide Squad #4 (of 6) – My Rating: 5/5

Suicide Squad #9 – My Rating: 4/5

Action Comics #971 – My Rating: 5/5

New Super-Man #7 – My Rating: 4.5/5

Supergirl #5 – My Rating: 5/5

Superwoman #6 – My Rating: 5/5

Titans #7 – My Rating: 5/5

Justice League / Power Rangers #1 (of 6) – My Rating: 3/5

…and my pick of the week is…  SUPERGIRL!!!

There you go.  The Superman titles are all fantastic right now.  And I say this as an unapologetic Batman fanatic who was first drawn to comics by the death and return of Superman in the 1990s.  To me, the Jurgens/Kesel/Simonson era is only rivaled by the current stuff being put out.  Steve Orlando is knocking Supergirl out of the park.  Phil Jiminez is making me love each character even more in every issues of Superwoman.  And new titles like New Super-Man and the upcoming Super Sons have me really excited.  Not to mention Dan Jurgens reinvigorating my love for the Man of Steel from the pre-Flashpoint universe (which is slowly but surely taking back over with Rebirth) on Action Comics.  Casual and hardcore fans alike will love the Superman family books.  You should all be reading all of them.  See you next SuperSunday!

I have to agree, I’m really liking what DC is doing with Superman since Rebirth
