Subject Name: Jason Suave (aka Dude)

File Number: 166

File Start Date: 12/28/2011

Real Name: Jason Suave

Occupation: Crimefighter

Marital Status: Single

Race: Caucasian

Gender: MaleDEO seal

Height: 6’

Weight: 165 lbs

Eye Color: Green

Hair Color: Brown

Physical Description: Dresses in a cross between beach bum and hipster style clothing – retro t-shirts or flannel, skater shorts, flip-flops or Chuck Taylors. He’s untraditionally handsome and physically fit but not cut an imposing figure in the slightest.

Natural Abilities: Jason is a people person and good at convincing others through his charm.

Metahuman Powers: The universe seems to accommodate his will, allowing him to teleport over short distances and influence the minds of others to a moderate degree. He has also displayed unnatural luck and a “finger gun” that scrambles the mind of anyone “shot” by it.

Base of Operations: Star City

Weapons/Gear: Nothing of note, beyond whatever rumpled attire he’s wearing.

SlackerPersonality Features: Charming, affable, and laid back. In other words, Jason is a complete and total slacker.

Distinctive Characteristics: When Jason grins on his left side, he has a dimple that looks like the “winkey face” emoticon.

Goals/Motivations: Jason is propelled into fighting crime by idealistic tendencies. He seems to believe that, if people like him can deal with all the major troublemakers, society can learn to get along in peace.

Personal Code of Ethics: Jason believes that he has a personal connection to the will of the universe, and that it has gifted him abilities so that he can help keep the cosmic balance.

Known Associates: The superhero team known as the Justice League Alternates – Zue (file #163), Jonathan Else (file #164), The Traveler (file #162), and Hyper Hamster (file #165).

Parents/Siblings/Relatives:  His parents are Jeff and Melissa Suave. They are presently living in a commune somewhere in South America. He has a cousin, Dewey, located in Portland that he hasn’t seen in 10 years.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the third Justice League Alternates character spotlight! This time, Jason Suave takes center stage!

You’ll note that there’s not a whole lot of information on Jason Suave. That’s completely intentional. You see, Jason is not your typical superhero. Everyone on the team has big dreams about getting recognized for what they are. Even Jonathan Else, who has no real superpowers to speak of, wants to be recognized for his genius and his contributions to making the world a better place. But not Jason. No, Jason just wants to live a charmed life. He didn’t aspire to be great, he didn’t want a costume or a code name or anything like that. He just wanted to make his way in the world without a single care. But when ORACLE came calling to recruit for the Alternates… Jason didn’t bite. Not at first. It took him a while to come around at first, but once he did, he found he really liked making a difference. As long as he didn’t have to work too hard at it.

I’m actually pretty impressed with how Jason Suave came out. In previous games, Mark has always played a combat savvy character of some type, or someone who has mastered social interaction. While it’s true that Jason can influence people through subtle mind control to get his way, he’s no socialite and his lack of any real fighting style means he’s usually in a support capacity in combat. As for where he’s been all this time and when he’ll return to the Alternates… you’ll get that story in a few more entries.

Next week, the Alternates search for a man whose name was given by Batman in connection to the troubles going on in the world. That name? Rip Hunter! Be here in 7 to find out what Hunter’s connection is to the missing heroes and the events unfolding around them!
