Stir the Pot Saturday: Week 3

Welcome back, everyone! Just a quick reminder of what our goal for each and every Saturday is: Stirring the pot is the act of causing trouble for the sake of your own amusement. So we here at Comic Booked would like to formally invite you to discuss, debate, and start some shit talkin’ about the characters, the creators, and the storylines given to us from the industry we all know and love, hate, and love to hate. So let’s quit wasting time and start the mud (or web) slinging!

This Saturday’s question: Which video game series, classic or recent, would make a great comic series?

Week 3 Picture 2

Would you like to see Chrono Trigger or any other Super Nintendo generation RPG receive the comic book treatment? Do you find yourself scripting your very own version of Castlevania? Is the world ready for Kirby and all of his adorable buddies? Could Mega Man facing off against Dr. Wily and all of his villainous creations be the next Spider-Man? What would you do to see the behind the scenes drama both before and after Mario Kart tournaments? Or is there another comic that maybe has already been done, but done poorly on your list of video games that would be your favorite monthly comic series? Or am I completely missing one of your favorites, either popular or obscure? And of course, imagine the crossover potential? Not to mention the inevitable video game tie-ins!

Week 3 Picture 3

So go forth and debate! But be sure to back up your responses. Don’t be scared. And don’t give up. After all, no one likes a quitter. And you’re not a quitter, are you?

I would say Metal Gear Solid would make a cool comic. Actually there might be one. Castlevania would be an awesome idea for a comic book. Semi horror take on it. Maybe Steve Niles could write that one. Mario Kart would be a cool web comic idea. It could be wildly funny and entertaining.

I loved Devil May Cry. It' s the kind of title that would fit in great with what Dark Horse does, I think. The anime is v cool

I'll go old school Sega master system and call for a Space Harrier comic.

None of them. I'm getting worn out on everything having to cross over. That being said, almost every game I play is based on a comic or movie, so maybe I'm full of shit. Oh well, back to playing The Darkness on my 360.

Devil May Cry is one of my favorite game franchises. The content fits pretty nicely with comics.

Would those Batman video games make a good comic?

They actually tried a couple Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania comics back in the early days of IDW, but they were awful. Hopefully they could do them again (especially since they probably still have the rights and Steve Niles does work there quite a bit) and do them proper justice. I'd be in for a Mario Kart web comic as well.

Yeah, I would think there would definitely be a great market there. Especially if they billed it as a horror and/or manga title for Dark Horse.

jeffhillwriter

Hahaha. I actually had to google that title to even know what it was. Love those classic arcade style games!

Fair enough. You playing Darkness or Darkness II? The first one was probably one of the last video games I actually played before my 360 broke years ago. 🙁

Scorp_Moonopoly

Sorry 'bout that 360 of yours man. I'm playing the first Darkness game now, Darkness II is still 20 bucks in the bargain bin, I'm hoping it will be down to $10 by the next I go back.
