Start Planning Now: GeekGirlCon 2012 Programming Announced

Comic Booked Guest Writer 07/18/2012 Reviews

GeekGirlCon 2012 is less than a month away! For those who might not know, GeekGirlCon is an organization “dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the contributions of women in all aspects of geek culture.” Last year they held their very first convention in Seattle, Washington, and it was a resounding success. This year GeekGirlCon is back and geared up for their second convention, which will take place August 11th and 12th, in the larger venue of the Conference Center in beautiful downtown Seattle. This year’s guests include: Gail Simone (Batgirl, Birds of Prey, Secret Six), Renae De Liz (Womanthology, IDW’s The Last Unicorn) Jane Espenson (Battlestar Galactica, Buffy, Firefly, Game of Thrones, co-creator of Warehouse 13) Greg Rucka (Stumptown, Whiteout, Queen & Country, The Punisher), Jen Van Meter (Hopeless Savages, JSA: All-Stars) and many more!

I was fortunate enough to attend last year’s inaugural convention, and one of the real highlights was the thoughtful and interesting panel discussion programming. I expect this year to be no different. Lucky for us, GeekGirlCon’s panel programming for both Saturday and Sunday is now live on their website, so we can start planning now. Some personal highlights that pop out at me include:

I strongly urge you to check out the official GeekGirlCon website for full Saturday and Sunday programming listings, along with detailed descriptions for each panel. Passes for GeekGirlCon are still available (so act now, as they sold out last year). This year is going to be another amazing convention! I hope to see you there.
