Over the last few months, Top Cow has basically put their entire lineup through a Rebirth process. This is not what some of the other publishers did, either by simply starting over and cherry-picking certain items willy-nilly (and even going so far as to changing their mind afterwards) or by doing some cataclysmic event and then going on with business as usual, with very little or no repercussions in some of the titles across the board. No, Top Cow got it right and gave the new Rebirth a complete vision and included every element and title across their universe, including their flagship titles of Witchblade, The Darkness, and Artifacts (of which issue #22 was previously reviewed by ComicBooked.com).
Let’s take a look at the first few pages…
Wow. The artwork by Jeremy Haun (Detective Comics, New Excalibur) is amazing and I think it suits the title to a tee. The writing by David Hine (Spawn, Silent War, X-Men: The 198) is just as good and showcases what I think is one of Hine’s strongest traits – the ability to literally face the dark side of a person, and that’s exactly where this story arc is going. Literally.
What do you think? Does this excite you? Do you want more of The Darkness and its sibling titles within the Top Cow Universe?
