A movie based on Eric Powell’s The Goon has been trying to get funding since 2008 and it appears that Powell is finally throwing in the towel and doing what all his fans have been saying since the get go: he will be starting a Kickstarter to help fund the big-screen venture.  The Goon movie has had stars attached for quite some time, with big names like Paul Giamatti and Clancy Brown set to voice the main characters of Franky and The Goon. Word is that David Fincher and Blur Studio are already attached to produce the movie so all that is missing is the funding.  Powell tweeted the news this morning and fans of the series went nuts, pleased they were with Powell doing what he should have done in 4 years ago.

The Goon is written and drawn by Eric Powell and features an eclectic mix of storytelling, with the main character facing off against zombies, the mob, and even a vicious Skunk-Ape, a creature that gets violent after smelling pie. The Goon is released by Dark Horse Comics.
