Based on the current information coming out of the DC Universe and from Scott Snyder himself, it is unclear who will be in the new team taking over to continue with Swamp Thing but we do have some hints that #18 will be the “big ones – the status-quo-changing-mega-ones”.
Scott Snyder is known to work on several industry defining comics such as Batman: Gates Of Gotham, The New 52 Batman (which included the epic story arc “The Court Of Owls”), American Vampire, Flashpoint and of course Swamp Thing. Snyder has received the 2011 Eisner and Harvey Award for Best New Series: American Vampire, 2012 Eagle Award for Best Writer, Stan Lee Award for Best Ongoing Series (Detective Comics), Stan Lee Award for Best Writer and 2012 Stan Lee Award for Man of the Year.
Despite Scott Snyder and Yanick Paquette making their departure after issue #18, they will however be continuing with the DC Universe. At New York Comic Con earlier this year, Scott Snyder also announced he will be working on a new Superman ongoing series to be drawn by Jim Lee (who will also be making an appearance at the Amazing Arizona Comic Con) which is scheduled to be published in 2013.
Mr. Snyder has reported that the reason for his departure after #18 is to be able to have more breathing room to focus more on his creator-owned project, The Wake series.
Swamp Thing #18 will be on sale March 6th, 2013 for $2.99.

Well, this is definitely sad news. I completely understand why Snyder would do this, though. Being on more than three projects at the same time is a surefire way to become a hack like some writers at other companies who may or may not write 4+ books per month and shall remained unnamed…
He's got pretty sound reasoning, and at least there's no controversy here.
