Review: Table Top Episode Five: Munchkin Deluxe

Richard Wilcox 06/02/2012 Reviews

So I was at the Phoenix Comicon this last weekend where I was able to witness the Inside Table Top panel hosted by Table Top Associate Producer and Game Master Boyan Radakovich. It was while I sat there listening to some amazing juicy bits from behind the scenes that I finally received the answer that has been asked for the last few weeks. It was this one revelation that dwarfed all other questions I may ever have had while watching Table Top. And it is my pleasure to tell you all today with confidence…

It had been confirmed that Ryan Higa is in fact a witch!

Whew! That took a weight off of my shoulders. Now, let’s look at this week’s latest Table Top episode from Geek and Sundry: Table Top Episode Five: Munchkin Deluxe. Admittedly this is probably the funniest episode yet with all of the trash talk and joking all around.

This week’s guests include the famous actress, writer, producer, and possible alien in disguise sent to conquer the internets, Felicia Day; actor and director Sandeep Parikh; and the man himself, the one, the only: Steve Jackson! That’s right, playing a game of Munchkin on Table Top is the very guy who created it!

So let’s get started. Munchkin is a simple yet crazy card game. The point is to reach level ten before everyone else by all means necessary! Players build a character with their hand and use curses, cheap tricks, flattery and of course back stabbing, to fight their way through the dungeon. I love Munchkin and actually saw a lot of how certain friends of mine play very close to the way players on this episode of Table Top… it was almost creepy… almost.

Please check out the extra interviews after the show Felicia talks about her experiences in World of Warcraft, Steve gives us a look his story in making games, and Sandeep talks about being a gamer as well as his work on the hilarious show The Legend of Neil (I’m not kidding, The Legend of Neil is one of my favorite web shows, but I will give a preemptive “Not sutable for children” warning for those with kids).

If waiting two weeks between episodes is hard check out the gag reels. They come out on the off weeks and are worth watching.

What was your favorite part of the episode? What games are you hoping to see next? Let us know in the comments section!
