Following the conclusion of the initial Breakworld arc, Kieron Gillen continues his run in classic Marvel style by upping the ante in Uncanny X-Men #539! Hope, the so-called mutant messiah, is kidnapped, and who should be sent to retrieve her but the man who is arguably the X-Men’s finest tracker: Wolverine. Marvel promises that this will “forever change” the relationship between the two characters. Whether or not this means the latest iteration of the mentor/protégé relationship Logan has had with both Shadowcat and Jubilee, this nonetheless has profound implications for this summer’s X-Men: Schism. After all, when mutant loyalties are divided, it’s an understatement to say that Hope’s allegiance could conceivably turn the tide.
With pencils by Ibraim Roberson, Uncanny X-Men #539 will be on sale later this month.
