From the beginning, I was excited to hear that the Scarlet Spider would be returning to the regular Marvel Universe. What makes Scarlet Spider so great is that it’s the story of a true doppelganger, a person that we are familiar with, but that something is off. Kaine tries to run from his past, from the horrible things he did hen he was suffering from the genetic deterioration and pretty much assumed each day would be his last. But now that he has a second chance and the opportunity to fit in to a normal society, he sees the world far differently. An opened girl, left for dead in a stifling storage container, a girl named Aracely was able to create the smallest chink in his armor, and little by little, his defenses begin to lower. But don’t get it twisted; Kaine is still able to be as cruel, as ruthless as he’s ever been. But his new outlook on life proves that sometimes people can change.

So far, Yost and Stegman have been doing a killer job of telling the story of a man on the run, and judging by these images, they continue to do so.
