“NINJAS VS. ZOMBIES tells the tale of seven friends in their late 20′s and early 30′s struggling with life issues, only to find themselves in terrifying danger when a long-dead loved one is magically resurrected and begins devouring the souls of the living. Complicating matters, three of the friends have mysteriously been granted the power of the ninja, and now must lead the fight against an evil force that they cannot hope to vanquish. If they fail, the undead will overrun their little town, and maybe the world.”
Continuing the fine tradition of previewing one of my favorite independent comics, I offer the following sneak peak at next week’s release of Ninjas Vs. Zombies (still the official title for the series though they are now fighting Werewolves!)
This issue begins revealing some of the dark history of River and the people who used to live there. If Diamond actually sends my LCS copies of it this time, I’ll be able to do a full Bullet Review for it next week. I’m still waiting for them to send us Ninjas Vs. #5 (for shame, Diamond, for shame!)
So, here is your sneak peak at Ninjas Vs. #6 followed by some other goodies!
“To Be Continued”, as they say! There are some very interesting developments here. A lot, actually, concerning the town’s history and the Ninja’s involvement in it. I was thinking the reminder that there were seven friends originally was important and, it turns out…well, I can’t give everything away now, can I?
I wanted to take a moment and talk about the art…Bruce Dwayne and Jaime Martinez have done a fantastic job keeping the looks of our heroes consistent in this series. Usually a comic based on a movie has problems with keeping the looks of the actors but this art team seems to have no problems with it. I love how Kyle always seems to be wearing his apron when he fights these monsters. Must be magic!
Check out Ninjas Vs #6 available next week! Until then, take another look at the cover of March’s Ninjas Vs #7 as well as the first look at May’s Ninjas Vs #8:
Seriously, the look on Kyle’s face on #8 cracks me up! Goes perfectly with the ‘We’re A Hit!’ blurb, reminds me of classic MAD Magazine!
Finally, check out the upcoming convention schedule for the fine folks who bring us the Ninjas Vs comics and movies! Sadly, I won’t be able to check any of these shows out but if you are planning to attend, swing by, tell ‘em HI! And if you haven’t checked out the movies or comics, that would be a great time to start picking them up!
A special thanks, again, to Thomas Chillemi as well as the fine folks at Azure Press who publish this series. Also, check out their website; Ninjas Vs isn’t the only title they publish. They have a few other very interesting books out there!
