As Marvel launches a new Captain America title to coincide with the upcoming movie, the existing series will be re-titled Captain America & Bucky. Beginning with August’s issue #620, this series will transition from its present focus on the present day exploits of those characters (which will subsequently be chronicled in Captain America #1) to, as phrased in the press release “Bucky’s formative years”. In other words, it will be set during World War II and focus both on the early development of the character himself and his relationship with Steve Rogers. To the relief of everybody who has been enjoying writer Ed Brubaker’s work with these characters over the past several years, he will remain on the book following this transition with Marc Andreyko joining him as a co-writer and Chris Samnee providing the art. Captain America & Bucky #620 will go on sale in August.
The press release is included below.
