The latest trailer has been released for the upcoming Fox Studios film, Logan. In it we get to see Logan (Hugh Jackman), X-23 (Dafne Keen), and a foul-mouthed Professor X (Sir Patrick Stewart).

Aside from Professor Charles Xavier’s potty-mouth, X-23’s bloody knuckles and iconic double-clawed awesomeness and aside from the obvious Pringles product placement, there is another curiosity:  there are X-Men comic books in the X-Men cinematic universe.

Logan

But there is a catch, this X-Men comic book (which appears to feature Wolverine fighting with Sauron on the cover) seems to have been made just for the film. With the speculation market scrambling to find this elusive issue, it does not appear to exist in our world. Another scene scrolls an interior page and features a Wolverine costume not seen before in Logan’s history.  Eagle-eyed observers will note that the comic book cover says “X-Men Comics Group” on the top, not the traditional “Marvel Comics Group” trade dressing, indicating that this comic book is surely a movie prop. [01/20/2017 update: I actually spoke with Dan Panosian via Facebook and he confirmed that he, along with Joe Quesada, made about 14 unique books for the movie. Jackman reached out to Quesada to make the books since Fox, due to contracts and IP rights, were unable to use actual X-Men books. Panosian told me that once the movie is released he will “show all the books but he can’t now so he doesn’t spoil the movie” ]

Logan

Logan will debut at the 2017 Berlin Film Festival, as we reported here, which begins in February. Keep an eye on Comicbooked.com for future announcements and releases as they are released.

Directed by James Mangold, this latest in the the expanding 20th Century Fox X-Men franchise will be released on March 3, 2017. It stars Hugh Jackman as Logan / Wolverine, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier / Professor X, Stephen Merchant as Caliban, Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney / X-23, Richard Grant as Dr Zander Rice.

The movie follows X-Men (2000), X-Men 2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), X-Men: First Class (2011), The Wolverine (2013), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) and X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and Deadpool (2016).  The movie will be followed by an additional X-Men Movie (X-Men: Supernova?), Deadpool 2, The New Mutants, X-Force

Official Synopsis: In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
