New Comic Releases: May 7, 2014

The beginning of May is a big month for comic’s in general, but let’s make sure we take note of whats going on in the big two.  Marvel is starting it’s Original Sin event and DC is starting up it’s second weekly title, Future’s End.

Writer’s Picks

Dave’s Pick – Rat Queen’s #6.  There was a whole month in-between the last issue of Rat Queens, and this issue.  If you’ve read the previous issues, you know full well how funny and engaging this comic can be, and it left us in the midst of an ever thickening plot.  If you haven’t been reading Rat Queen’s…what are you waiting for!

Aaron’s Pick – I would totally pick Original Sin #1 this week. Uatu, The Watcher, is killed and his eyes are stolen. Why? Because they have seen everything in every universe. What secrets will be revealed? A lot. Almost every major character has some dirty laundry that will be drug out for everyone to see. Be sure to check out my continuing event coverage every Wednesday.

Cal’s Pick – The Movement #12 – Gail Simone’s The Movement was never a great series, but it was the DC series that helped convince me that someone at DC was still interested in making great comics. Because great comics come from great creators exploring their passions and worldviews and playing with big ideas and interesting characters, and that’s something The Movement did in every single issue. Sure, it was a mess, but it was a mess that was always trying to be something more, which is more than I can say for very nearly any other post-New 52 book out there. The Movement was only sporadically good, but it was always interesting.

About The Author

I'm a lover of fiction in all it's forms, but comics are about as good as it can get. I cosplay and Roleplay and some day I'll jump the curb and become a vigilante hero if I'm not careful. Until then, comics will have to do.
