Nendoroid Spider-Man Swings Into Action

Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a bit of a Spider-Man freak. The bookshelf in my office is loaded with various collectibles, toys and action figures—everything from mini-mates to finger puppets to holiday ornaments—many of which are of the red and blue wallcrawler. But once I saw the bobbleheaded-like Nendoroid Spider-Man, I knew the good ol’ Spider Spud was going to have to give up his premium position on my bookshelf.

Nendoroids have been around since 2006 and are usually based on anime or manga characters and released in limited numbers. They have huge heads and small bodies, with big eyes and fine details making them, in a word, cute.

Nendoroid Spider-Man is sweet!  The figure’s design is inspired by the costume of the new Amazing Spider-Man movie. It is about 100 mm high (that’s about 4 inches for us non-metric folk) and is fully posable. What makes it particularly cool is that it comes with a diarama-like base that is a forced perspective of a cityscape. So when you place Spidey on the clear plastic stand, he looks like he’s swinging high above the streets of New York.

If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, you can also put Spidey in our various dynamic, action-packed poses without the cityscape by using a suction cup that attaches to his support prop. Also, he comes with accessories that allow you to pose him shooting his webshooters at imagined (or real) villains.
