Marvel Comics’ news of their major event for 2012, Avengers Vs. X-Men was so big, they held a live interview with the writers and producers just to release much of the information. During that interview, two pieces of information were revealed: firstly, December’s Avengers: X-Sanction storyline will be the starting point of the Avengers Vs. X-Men event. And secondly, fans will be treated to a special #0 issue, full of all-new material, showing how the inevitable clash between the two super-teams has been building for some time.
Today, Marvel released the cover art for the #0 issue, as well as a small press release.
This March, fans worldwide cannot miss the prologue to the biggest pop culture comic event of the year as Marvel is pleased to unveil the trade dress and cover to Avengers VS. X-Men #0! Just before the Avengers and the X-Men go head to head, superstar creators Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron & Frank Cho set up the crucial roles of the Scarlet Witch and Hope Summers in the coming storm. With all eyes on Wanda and the Mutant Messiah, both sides have already made up their mind on where allegiances SHOULD lie …but what about those caught in the middle? The drums of war are beating and fans should be ready for the essential opening to the event that will change everything you know about the Marvel Universe in Avengers VS. X-Men #0!

If you watched the live interview, then you’re aware that Avengers Vs. X-Men will have a heavy focus on the Scarlet Witch and Hope. While this news is not new, I am definitely interested in getting my hands on this issue, if for no other reason to learn more behind the story. Scarlet Witch has been out of the spotlight for some time, so how does she factor into the conflict? And Hope’s past is the X-Men’s future. Is it even possible for her transgressions to affect the battle?
Marvel knows how to tease events, and they certainly have piqued my interest for 2012. Though I’ve grown weary of major, cross-title events in the past few years, somehow Marvel has managed to get me excited for another one. It’s hard not to be excited when two of comics’ biggest team go head-to-head. March really can’t get here soon enough.
