Zenescope and Mankind Just Made History More Interesting!

Comic Booked 11/13/2012 Features

Not to sound like a philistine, but I generally keep my entertainment and my education separate. Not any more though, not now that I’ve been turned on to an interesting partnership between Zenescope Entertainment and the History channel! Mankind The Story of All of Us, is an introspective look at the story of humanity. Professor Charles Xavier once famously said of mutation:

It is the key to our evolution. It has enabled us to evolve from a single-celled organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward.

Mankind promises to look not at the genetics, but the ingenuity of the human race and how THAT bred a species perfectly suited to survival on this planet. Biologically our planet can nurture us, but it can also be deadly. How did early man survive such harsh landscapes? How do we survive each other? Mankind seeks to answer those questions, exploring the facts and possibilities as intensely as modern capabilities allow. Zenescope is publishing a comic book counterpart, the first trade of which is already available. As soon as I learned of it I went looking for the Bronze Age bikini variant cover, but strangely there was none to be found. It turns out Mankind will be printed under the Silver Dragon Books label.  Silver Dragon is pretty cool in its own right, having previously produced material on dinosaurs, deadly sharks, and the totally insane Jurassic Strike Force 5!  Silver Dragon Books is the all ages imprint, hence the more educational approach. They sure know how to aim for some intense material!

The first episode of Mankind is a two hour special on Inventors, premiering on History Tuesday November 13 at 9/8c, with a second airing on Saturday.

I like how you put a Charles Xavier quote in there. Awesome.
