Josh Boone has quite possibly given us our latest tease and the official line up for the upcoming New Mutants movie that he is directing. This comes on the tails of another recent tease by Mr. Boone which showed the mutant Warlock shape-shifted in to the form of propeller airplane.
Warlock is noticeably absent in this latest teaser photograph (Seen Below).
But that does not mean he won’t be in the movie. What it appears to be shaping up as, however; is that the cast will remain as close to the original New Mutants team as possible. The picture, posted by Josh Boone on Instagram today shows Magik, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Dani Moonstar and Sunspot.
Confirmation continues to build.
Approximately one month ago, we got word from Fox and team that Maisie Williams would be cast and starring as Wolfsbane in the New Mutants movie. Maisie Williams is best known for her role as Arya Stark in the hit HBO TV series Game of Thrones. She recently told Entertainment Weekly; “I can’t say much about it at all, but I would absolutely love to be a part of it, [and] to be a part of the Marvel family.” But, playing coy, she went on to say; “New Mutants looks absolutely incredible and I’ve always loved the idea of spin-offs and [director] Joshua Boone is incredibly talented. So, yeah, sign me up.”
This movie will be under the Fox Studios family of X-Men movies and franchises as the latest spin-off along with the Deadpool sequel, Wolverine sequel, a Gambit film that is still on the table and the rumor of an upcoming X-Force movie.
The premise for the New Mutants is that they are a group of teenagers in the X-Men family that are in training and still in development. The New Mutants first appeared in Marvel Graphic Novel # 4 in 1982 and went on to star in their own titles on-going series in 1983 all the way until 1991 where the title transitioned to X-Force who has drawn by Rob Liefeld at the time. The New Mutants also gave us the first appearances of many characters such as Cable and Deadpool.
This latest photo however does seem to confirm that finalization of the final cast list is drawing to a close. With rumored castings rolling in, and with Wolfsbane seemingly confirmed, we can begin to start wondering who will play the other five characters!
