Welcome to the third and latest installment of “Level Up!” This is my weekly column here at ComicBooked.com where we take a look at of some of the week’s biggest gaming news. Convenient, eh? We have much to cover, so let’s kick things off with a trinity of comic-related video games news items.
Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth Trailer 3
Ubisoft’s Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth has its third and latest trailer. While the game itself still looks a tad rough around the edges, this game trailer depicts a couple of my favorite Hulk moments from The Avengers movie. (Who can ever get tired of watching the Hulk whip “puny gods” around like ragdolls?) It looks like Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth is still on track to be released on October 30th, and is currently available for pre-order, with a demo currently available for download on Xbox LIVE Arcade.
New DC Universe Online “The Witching Hour” DLC
DC Universe Online is always adding new DLC, and “The Witching Hour” will be here just in time to help get you into the Halloween spirit. To the Sony Online Entertainment press release we go:
This October, DCUO celebrates Halloween with its new in-game event, “The Witching Hour.” Thanks to the mischievous Klarion the Witch Boy, all hell has broken loose across Gotham City as masked ghouls cause chaos in the streets and torment trick-or-treaters. Heroes will be tasked with stopping the dangerous apparitions, while Villains will work to cause even more trouble. Ultimately, players will be challenged to enter the Goth club, “The Midnight Masquerade” and take down Klarion, who has managed to increase his power by stealing the abilities of magic Heroes and Villains such as Zatanna, Black Adam and Tala. Players will be rewarded with a bagful of seasonal goodies for their efforts, including new trinkets, a powerful new pet, and spooky appearance items such as the Bone Daddy Mask and the Ghastly Ghoul Mask.
Check out one of the screenshots directly below and head on over to here on the official DCUO website to see even more.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Has Impressive First Week Sales
As you might have heard, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria was released last week. So is there still a rabid fan following for Blizzard’s beloved WOW series? Judging from the first week’s sales numbers, the answer seems to be a resounding, “YES!” According to a Blizzard press release, Mists of Pandaria sold a reported 2.7 million copies in its first week, and the games global base surpassed 10 million subscribers! The PR goes on to tease that:
The World of Warcraft development team is already hard at work on the first major post-launch content update. Further details, including features and release timing, will be provided in the weeks ahead.
As I was putting this post together, some pretty exciting new trailers have JUST been released! So let’s wrap up this installment of “Level Up” with two brand new, HOT video game trailers!
Mass Effect 3: Retaliation Trailer
Bioware has just released a stunning new trailer for the Mass Effect 3: Retaliation Multiplayer DLC, and it looks wicked! Watch it two or three times to see for yourself.
The Mass Effect 3: Retaliation Multiplayer DLC will be available for download on October 9th in North America, and on the 10th in Eurpoe.
Assassin’s Creed 3 “Connor Story” Trailer
It’s going to be hard to top the previous item, but Ubisoft manages to do just that with this brand new Assassin’s Creed 3 “Connor Story” Trailer! Assassin’s Creed 3 has arguably generated the most buzz of any upcoming game, and is the game that I am most excited about this year. Judging from this trailer it’s not hard to see why.
On that note we’ll wrap it up. Thank you for reading, and we’ll see you again next week.
