Free Comic Book Day is scheduled on the first Saturday of May. It has often been tied to the release of a major theatrical film adaptation of a well known superhero property, in order to take advantage of the film’s heavy promotion and related press about the comic book medium.
On Free Comic Book Day, participating comic book store retailers give away specially printed copies of free comic books, and some offer cheaper back issues and other items to anyone who visits their establishments. Retailers do not receive the issues for free; they pay 12-50 cents per copy for the comics they give away during the event.
Participating this year will be artist, creator, publisher, Jason Dube; Jason is the owner of Scattered Comics Studios and is widely known for titles such as his teen sensation “Panda Days”, “Caffiene Poisoned”, and his successful supernatural thriller “Scattered” series.
Jason is also the founder of the “SCCG” (Sacramento Comic Creator’s Group) the group meets every Tuesday to discuss their projects and learn different techniques and sharpen their skills as artists; this year Jason and some of the “Scattered Comics artists will be attending Free Comic Book Day as guests at the A-1 Comics store located at 818 Sunrise Avenue, Roseville, CA 95661 (916) 783-8005
Joining Jason will be Josh Barker, artist for such projects as “Kaci Hansen Presents” “FANGS”, and the upcoming “Penny Dreadful’s Cauldron Of Terror“, Richard and Kristi Zerga owners and artists of Legends Of Heroes And Villains which produces such comics as the popular anime “Hotaru” series, the horror classic comic “Taffy T. Clown” series, and the upcoming Hitchcock parody comic “SQUIRREL” co-published by Comic Book Divas; colorist Noel Serrato who works on “Horatu”, artist Bordin Marsinkul known for his work on “Zacklin”.

I think that FCBD is a great opportunity for new creators to get their stuff in the hands of the public. What better way to get people to try out your content?
