Harley Quinn Ongoing Announced

Simon Peter Curran 07/16/2013 News, Reviews

Everyone’s favourite acrobatic, infatuated, mentally deranged psychologist is about get her very own on going series as the book’s creators told CBR today! Currently being featured in the pages of Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn is set to get a monthly ongoing from the minds of Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti who will focus on Harley’s life when not running with the rest of the Suicide Squad.
The Suicide Squad book has Harley spending time with other heroes and bad guys. This book will focus on Harley and her life, where she lives and how she functions, as well as her motivations and solo adventures.
Harley has had her own series that ran for 38 issues back in the early 2000’s and as part of an ensemble cast in Gotham City Sirens, Conner and Palmiotti are looking to peel back the layers of Harley and see what makes her tick. Taking in to account Harley’s past Conner told CBR:
She is a totally beloved character, and you have to show that some respect, all while bringing her into a whole new atmosphere, we have to make her world very believable. We want to make her almost like she’s someone you’ve met before.
I have high hopes for this series, and so does a lot of the internet. Harley is a character that a LOT of people love, and she has been dealt some bad hands in the past. Most recently at the beginning of the New 52 when her Suicide Squad look was revealed. but knowing Palmiotti and Conners work I think she is in safe hands.

No artist has been named for the book as of yet, however you can take a look at the cover for issue #1 by Amanda Conner, below.

Hoping this is a step in the right direction for the character…

The Power Girl series had her based in Brooklyn (former home of Palmiotti and Connor), Do we know if they are going to be using Brooklyn for the series, or is this cover more of a pin up type?
