Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel is poised to release Guardians of the Galaxy soon.  They continue to tease the world with just enough material to keep you hooked.  Finally, the three words we were all waiting for have arrived.

I am Groot.

The movie looks exactly as it should look: it’s campy, it’s ludicrous, it’s insane and…well, it looks amazing.

It is everything that Guardians of the Galaxy is supposed to be.  It is a farce of a movie featuring yellow jump suits, a professional wrestler, a raccoon and a tree.  The quick wit of Peter Quill will surely inspire laughter while simultaneously getting the group into more trouble than they were already in.  Rocket Raccoon seems to be exactly what fans want as the over-the-top hero the team deserves.

While the movie looks hilarious and a great contrast to the current Marvel movies, the special effects look outstanding and the movie looks legitimately worth watching.  Marvel could have done much worse with a product of this nature.  It does look, at least, like the studio has invested the time and the money to make this the action-comedy movie that fans desired.

Perhaps the best line of the trailer comes from Rocket Raccoon when he utters, “Oh what the hell, I don’t got that long of a lifespan anyway.”  The line may perfectly describe the script to the movie.  Expect Marvel to feel comfortable taking some chances and pushing the envelope.  When a movie that no one expects to succeed arrives, it gives a bit more freedom to the writers to go out on a limb and try some things.

After all, they don’t have that long of a lifespan anyway.
