Graphicly and Legendary Host NYCC Scavenger Hunt

Michael Wirth 10/13/2011 ZDONOTUSE

This weekend, Graphicly, the social networking and digital comics distributor, will be celebrating their partnership with Legendary Entertainment, producers of hit movies like Batman Begins, 300, and Watchmen, with a fun scavenger hunt for fans in attending New York Comic Con. Below is the press release explaining more about the event.

During New York Comic-Con, Graphicly will be establishing a social media presence including a special Foursquare integration. During the Con, Foursquare will have a virtual scavenger hunt around NYC, check-in on the right location, show the Graphicly badge at the Legendary booth, and gain some exclusive items! Additionally, Graphicly will be providing a preview of the book on Legendary’s Facebook page using their recently announced application.  As the only comic book application on Facebook, Graphicly will help spread the word about Frank Miller’s Holy Terror, growing this comic’s fanbase as potential readers can preview and purchase the wares while never having to leave the page. Fans can now like the comic and share it on a friend’s wall!

Follow Graphicly on Foursquare to get a free copy of Holy Terror

Leveraging the power of social media, fans and smart phone users can log into to Foursquare, follow Graphicly and check into certain places around New York City. Finding the right locations to check into in the city will unlock the exclusive Graphicly badge. If fans show that badge at the Graphicly booth during the con, they will be awarded with some cool swag, courtesy of Legendary Entertainment. Graphicly and Legendary are hosting this promotion as a way to give back to the fans that have supported them, as well as to draw more fans into the fold.

Graphicly is not giving any specifics regarding where to check in to get the badge; after all, where’s the fun in that? However, given that they are connected to the comic book industry, I would assume that the places would tie in to that (wink, wink, hint, hint). If you don’t already have an account, make sure you head over to Foursquare and sign up, then follow Graphicly’s page, and you are set to participate. Happy check—ins!

Awesome. I was gonna try and get the badge anyway (I'm such a badge whore), so to get some free swag for doing it? I'm so in!

I wish there were scavenger hunts in more locations. Maybe I will start a cross county one. But I also wish I was at NYCC…
