First Look: Nova #2 and Nova #3

Nick Furious 01/24/2013 Reviews

One of the most entertaining parts of this job is getting to see what Marvel compliments themselves on. Don’t get it twisted – I’m a die hard Marvel fan til the day that I die (Rest In Peace, Future NickFurious), but nobody loves Marvel like Marvel. Everything they do is “critically acclaimed” or featuring a “Blockbuster team-up”. Loeb and McGuinness isn’t bad but I dunno if Loeb deserves “Chart-Topping” AND “Award Winning”. I also enjoyed how Marvel had to remind us the last time we saw Nova was in Avengers vs. X-Men. They had to remind us that we wondered who that was I just thought it was Nova and didn’t really think much else. Judging by the comments section I can see I’m not alone.  Here is the official press release for both:

Hahaha. Marvel does love themselves. Too bad they don't put half of the effort into their books as they do into their press releases. That being said, I do think this series looks promising. I'll give it a few issues.

I dig the visual art, but why does it have to be "Kid Nova"?

Not digging the kid Nova aspect and the art is… are they drawing kid Nova's helmet like that on purpose?
I don't know, people, the more I'm seeing of this… the less I want to even grab the first issue. Even with Rocket Raccoon appearing in it, that might not be enough to get me to spend money on this.
