First Look: Jeff Cahn’s “Redeemer”

Nick Furious 03/26/2012 Reviews

You may remember that not too long ago we interviewed Mr. Jeff Cahn, and he discussed his future plans, revealing tidbits about Redeemer.  In the interview (which can be found, here) Jeff described it as, “Crow meets Deadwood“.  Well, I let my curiosity get the best of me and asked Jeff if he could send me anything and everything he had on, Redeemer, which he ever so kindly obliged.  Not only did a great synopsis on the what is in store for us, but a nice amount of art work to add a little bit of eye candy.

EZEKIEL CLOWERS is the preacher and spiritual leader of Bethel, a small but devout town in America’s old west. When MR. MENDAC, a mysterious stranger, materializes from the desert with stories of gold in the hills surrounding town, the temptation for many of Bethel’s residents proves too strong. Despite Ezekiel’s warnings it isn’t long before the town has forsaken its spiritual roots and descended into a cesspool of violence and sin thanks to the influx of whiskey, money, prospectors, and prostitutes. Having finally seen enough, Ezekiel and his congregation attempt to peacefully banish Mendac and his loyalists from Bethel. Mendac responds with extreme violence, barricading the congregation inside their church and setting the building ablaze. Everyone inside, including Ezekiel and his wife Ruth, dies. Fueled by the murdered souls of the innocent, Ezekiel is resurrected as THE REDEEMER, a supernatural being with unearthly powers. But as Ezekiel tries to rid Bethel of the sinners, he discovers dark secrets about Mendac, Bethel, and even himself. Will his quest for justice redeem the town or will it damn his eternal soul?
