First Look: Cable and The X-Force #3

Nick Furious 12/06/2012 Reviews

Finally X-Force will go back to being the name of a title of mercenaries!  And I was so hopeful this wouldn’t involve Wolverine and who shows up in the panels below?  Why the hell does Marvel put him in every damn title imaginable.  Seeing an issue where Wolverine sleeps or has a day off would be incredible.  Enough of Wolverine we see the return of a rogue steel mutant who has been missing since the events of Avengers vs. X-Men.  This is a title full of B-Listers but with Hopeless attached it couldn’t look more promising.  Here is the official press release:

Marvel is pleased to present your first look at Cable and the X-Force #3, by the creative team of writer Dennis Hopeless and artist Salvador Larroca! Cable orders the team to attack a civilian company, but with his powers on the fritz will his judgment be brought into question?  And see where the mighty Colossus has been since the end ofAvengers vs. X-Men!

As part of Marvel NOW!Cable and the X-Force  joins a number of titles that will take the Marvel Universe in an exciting all-new direction, as the industry’s top creators join the top Super Heroes to deliver all-new ongoing series, great for new and lapsed readers alike!

Each issue of Cable and the X-Force includes a code for a free digital copy on the Marvel Comics app (for iPhone®, iPad®, iPad Touch® & Android devices). Each issue of Cable and The X-Force features special augmented reality content available exclusive through the Marvel AR app – including cover recaps, behind the scenes features and more that add value to your reading experience at no additional cost.

An all-new team! All-new dangers! This is Cable and X-Force NOW!

This January, Dennis Hopeless and Salvador Larroca bring us a new chapter for this team in Cable and the X-Force #3!

Looks pretty good. Love me some Cable and crazy Forge. Everything I see about this book just makes it look that much more enjoyable.

Even if Wolverine was asleep in the issue, he would still have panel time. They would intermittently cut to him snoozing in a hammock, his claws popping in and out as he dreamt about killing Sabretooth.

He's become a marketing tool instead of a cool character. It's sad – my favorite issue of Wolverine & The X-Men of late is the one that centered around Doop! I'm hoping that's the extent of his inclusion in the pics above, though, and the rest is about Hope – as it appears with Wolvie, Rogue and Havok there that Hope is visiting the Uncanny Avengers here, since I could see them going after Cable's X-Force at some point… (Doesn't Cable wanna see Unca Havok?)
