Fear Itself Becomes The Fearless In October

Fear Itself Becomes The Fearless In October

With a tagline that reads “The fate of the world lies in the hands of an angel and a demon. Who will succeed?!” it’s obvious that Marvel is looking to make the aftermath of Fear Itself as Universe shattering as the event… itself.

Marvel has already given us teases to Shattered Heroes and the Forgiven, but what is Fear Itself: The Fearless?

Your guess is as good as mine. Despite the beautiful Frank Cho-drawn teaser image showing Valkyrie and Sin armed to the teeth, we really don’t have much to go by right now. The choice to portray these two characters is certainly interesting, given what we know about them. Sin is essentially the starting point of Fear Itself. Meanwhile, we see Valkyrie, who seems to be more of a stand-in for Marvel’s most famous Asgardian, Thor. Given some of the solicits for November’s books, I would assume that this image cements the theory of Thor’s departure from being an active hero. Does he survive the events of Fear Itself at all? Or is he banished for his defiance against Odin? With each new teaser, I’m actually excited to find out.

True to their previous outings, Marvel continues to use social media to the utmost. The Fear Itself: The Fearless teaser includes the hashtag #FearItself to allow Twitter users to keep up with all of the latest news and rumors. Marvel have also planned a live-blog, in which they discuss Fearless with the writers and creators, Matt Fraction, Cullen Bunn, Chris Yost, and Tom Brevoort.  Scheduled for Friday, September 2 at 3:00 PM EST, the live-blog is sure to dig into some of the details about Fear Itself: The Fearless, without giving away too many juicy details. You can tune into the live-blog here.

Fear Itself: The Fearless, written by Matt Fraction, Cullen Bunn, and Chris Yost, includes art by Mark Bagley and Paul Pelletier, will hit shelves October 19, 2011.

  1. This is what I fear the most: A bad event that won’t end.

I’ve enjoyed Fear Itself so far, interesting to see where it goes. Although I have not checked out any of the offshoots.
