Kevin Smith is back with a new Q&A! Somewhat lost in all the hype over Comic Book Men coming to AMC (effectively giving them a two hour block of comic book related programming by pairing it with The Walking Dead) was the Epix premiere of Kevin Smith’s Burn in Hell. His question and answer sessions have taken on a life of their own, although already well known as an accomplished director, writer, producer and actor, Smith has quickly cemented his status as a sort of stand up comedian as well. His jovial and approachable personality has shone through in these performances, which often teeter between philosophical musings on entertainment and cathartic tell-alls about his experiences. Much of this latest entry was focused on promotion of his recent film Red State,
but don’t let that statement mislead you into thinking he won’t take the opportunity to talk about some of his (and possibly your) favorite super-powered individuals! In the past he’s brought up everything from Superman Returns to Twilight, and here he wastes no time before getting into some of his thoughts on Christopher Nolan’s upcoming The Dark Knight Rises.
We all have varied opinions, some of us love Kevin Smith’s movies, and some of us don’t. We also have varied thoughts on his opinions. Love him or hate him, we can all agree on one fact – as a lifelong comic book fan, Kevin Smith is one of us. I personally don’t like the application of the “nerd” or “geek” labels anymore, especially in a world where Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has cracked the top ten, and many comic book films including The Dark Knight have won very legitimate awards. I still identify with them though, and that being said, I relish any opportunity to bask in the glow of any “geek” icon who has achieved major success. Even if you don’t like him, he’s one of us, and naughty nerds need love too!
The premiere of Burn in Hell is set to air on Epix February 11, 2012. There is no need to be a slave to programming schedules though, and you don’t even need a television to see it, just a computer. Epix offers a free trial that allows you to view their content as you wish, as many times as you wish online for two weeks through http://www.epixhd.com/freetrial/. Don’t say we never gave you anything!
