Castlevania: Lords of Shadows was a much-anticipated game that not only put the beloved franchise back on the map in a big way, but also managed to receive widespread critical praise and ended up on many “top 10 games of the year” lists. Now, just in advance of E3, Konami has released a trailer for the follow up, Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2. While the trailer appears to be cut-scenes rather than actual gameplay, it is quite dark and impressive. Check it out below.

Interesting stuff to say the least. If this sequel can build on the success of the previous game, Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2 looks to potentially be another great offering. From the look of the trailer, fans should be able to expect more of the massive, set-piece boss-battles that trilled us in the last installment. The official Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2 website also offers the following short story synopsis:

In “Castlevania: Lords of Shadow,” the origin of Dracula and his legendary connection with the Belmonts was revealed. In “Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2,” fans can expect thrilling new twists and challenges. In this shocking conclusion to the Lords of Shadow saga, Dracula returns once again, weakened and yearning for release from his immortal bonds. Facing a new and powerful threat, the vampire lord must reacquire his old powers – and only his castle holds the key. However, the famed Belmont clan also seek his ultimate destruction.

Along with the trailer, here on the official game website are a bunch of screen shots, as well as concept and environmental art, and is definitely worth checking out. Let’s hope that even more information about this game comes out of E3!
