With the recent announcement of their full line reboot, DC Comics has caused quite an uproar throughout the comic book community. Over the next few weeks we can expect to see a lot of press releases premiering all of DC’s new series that are set to kick off this September when the relaunch begins! Earlier today they announced a slew of new Batman books for you all to look forward to, and Comic Booked has the scoop!
New Batman series include Batman and Robin, Batman: The Dark Knight, Detective Comics, Batman Inc., and of course the classic self-titled Batman. Now that Bruce Wayne is back to being the only true Batman, it looks as though the dark knight has got his work cut out for him!
Fans of Grant Morrison and Batman, Incorporated can also rest easy! Although the series will be taking a break after August, it will relaunch in January with a new #1 book! Morrison is now referring to the first 10 issues of the series (the current run through August of this year) as the ‘first season’ of the series, with more to look forward to in the upcoming ‘second season’ in January! Morrison says “The series will take a brief hiatus while I work on a major new project to be announced shortly. Batman, Incorporated returns next year with me, Chris Burnham and Batman: Leviathan, the epic 12 part conclusion to my 6 year Batman saga. Don’t miss it”.
Below are excerpts from the press releases posted on the DC Blog-

Im looking forward to this; the Battle for the Cowl started out exciting, but as Bruce was lost in time, and Nightwing stepped in, things got boring fast. The refresh was needed, as an old Batman fan, I had stopped picking up copies recently.
Well with Dick being Nightwing again (with red highlights on the costume instead of blue, Jason running his own team (with a very Young Justice style Arsenal?) and Damien being Robin, I think Tim will turn up in the Titans (Still in a variation of Red Robin)
I am more curious about what is up with Bart. Going back to Flashpoint #1 when Barry is talking about “his family” we see all the speedsters except Bart, and that includes Jessi Ognats aka XS from the Legion.
More than anything, I just can’t believe they’re actually renumbering Detective Comics. What the hell?
Sad day when Detective and Batman drop their numbering for a sales gimmick.
This means the continuous run of Action Comics is dead.
I just want to echo what Nick C and Skott of Fables have said. What a joke this whole marketing ploy is.
I predict with in a year or so the “old” numbering system comes back as some great idea.
So if I was only going to pick up one, because I haven’t read ANY Batman, which one should I pick up?
With a relaunch of batman and changes to the story line and possible character write outs or non exsistent is dc planning on telling us the new relaunch takes place on earth 3 or 4 or 52? Just like golden age is earth one are these going to be the new stories of a different earth?
