Hallowe’en, to me, is better than Christmas and birthdays combined! So imagine my excitement when my favourite comic book publisher put out a press release announcing their plans for my favourite holiday. If you said “really excited” you’ll only be half right. My excitement for this October is off the charts, all thanks to DC Comics!

DC are planning a months worth of activities this October to celebrate the spookiest night of the year. With everything from special comic book releases based on the Cartoon Network’s highly successful DC Nation programming block, to DVD releases and events to participate in at this year’s New York Comic Con!

Celebrate Hallowe’n with DC this year, full details on all events planned are below.

BURBANK, Calif. (October 1, 2012) – From power-hungry aliens to devious, diabolical masterminds, DC Entertainment brings the best of the bad with the launch of a new DC Comics Super-Villains program. An ever-expanding cast of nemeses that defy the world’s greatest Super Heroes, the DC Comics Super-Villains program is geared towards fans of all ages, and will bring the perilous but playful DC Comics villains to life in an annual celebration during the scariest time of the year.

Starring some of the most iconic enemies of all time including The Joker, Lex Luthor, Bane, Sinestro, Black Adam, Black Manta, Bizarro, Captain Cold, and Cheetah, the Super-Villains will celebrate their first Halloween together with a myriad of activities and events that include DC Nation– Cartoon Networks’ block of animated superhero series, New York Comic Con, a lucky fan sweepstakes, a frightful, fan-favorite DVD release, and more!

Throughout the month of October DC Nation fans will take on the bad guys with a kid-friendly “Know Your Super-Villains” multi-platform campaign. DC Nation comic books will include a “who’s who” guide to over 30 DC Comics Super-Villains and an exclusive Super-Villain mini-poster. Kids can also test their Super-Villain smarts by visiting DCNation.com to take a mastermind quiz, and participate in a poll to select who is best of the bad guys. DC Nation app users will get exclusive access to a full set of DC Comics Super-Villains secret files in a special Halloween collection.

Also beginning today, older fans will have a chance to make out like a bandit with the Super-Villains Big Score Sweepstakes on DCComics.com. Celebrating the best bad guys in the business, the site will also host a month-long Super-Villain website takeover that includes exclusive homepage art by  Ryan Sook, the debut and weekly roll-out of Super-Villain character pages, and an entertaining personality quiz lets you discover which type of super-villain you’re most like. In addition, one grand prize winner will win Super-Villain themed prizes including cool merchandise, collectibles and a special selection of publishing titles.

DC Entertainment will also give fans the chance to be one of the Super-Villains at New York Comic Con with a special green screen photo-op at the DC Entertainment booth(#1238). Fans attending the annual event, taking place at Javits Center on October 11-14, can strike their most evil pose alongside Bane, The Joker, Lex Luthor and more in the exclusive interactive photo booth, and take home their own Super-Villain cover as a spooky souvenir.

The Super-Villain celebration also continues as the Super-Villains DVD collection arrives on October 16. A two-disc collection, DC Comics Super-Villains: The Joker’s Last Laugh brings together for the first time 13 action-packed animated episodes of the Clown Prince Of Crime’s most devious schemes.
