Comic Booked March Madness! – 3rd Round!

Hey everybody! Time to kick off the 3rd Round of Comic Booked March Madness!!

In the 2nd Round The Green Lantern Corps did indeed “take this Rebel Alliance” as our own Jordan so boldly predicted on selection Sunday. Also there were the amazing victories of Usagi over The Witchbalde, Savage Dragon ANHILATING The Hulk, and of course Buffy staking Spidey through and through. You go girl.

Who shall win this round to go onto the Sweet 16 on the 24th? You decide!!

Wow, already down to this and having a hard time choosing! I’m still happy that Miyamoto Usagi got this high up there.

Batman vs. Teen Titans…The Master vs. the party he created? This will end well……

        • Cousin Matt

          Is there any doubt?

          • Hahaha!! He is The Bat…

            • Tons of doubt. Tim could take Bruce on his own at this point, the rest of the Titan’s would normally be usable as leverage but because Tim knows Bruce won’t kill, Tim would have the upperhand.

            • Yoni

Dude, no way the TT could take on the Bat. Tim is good, but Bruce has been doing this way longer. Tim is smart, but this has been Bruce’s entire life. Not only does he already know how to beat all the teen Titans physically, he already is familiar with their psychological profiles, their deepest secrets, their highschool drama, etc. He can play off their weaknesses, their fears, exacerbate their team dynamics. Basically they’ve got nothing on him, even sporting A-listers like Kara, Tim, and a white Martian

            • Haha Tim could take Bruce because he’s been taking everything Bruce has been teaching it and doing the exact same things, but more effectively. Tim already has a contingency plan to take Bruce out if he needs to, as well as any of his other friends or mentors (as explained in the current Red Robin series). The other Titan’s would be somewhat of a hinderence, but really would just work as a distraction for Tim to do whatever he needs to do. He knows Batman won’t kill, so the other Titans will be fine. Just like Bruce knows all their weaknesses, Tim knows all of Bruce’s. Another point you made was that ‘this has been Bruce’s entire life’. Yes, it has, and he’s quite aged by now. Tim is a master strategist and knows all the same tactics Batman knows; He always has a plan and in this scenario he’s got backup.

            • Yoni

Your logical fallacy is in assuming that Tim knows all of Bruce’s weaknesses. Bruce is way secretive, and despite having lived together for several years, all the training and adventures together, Bruce always keeps everyone guessing. Its in his nature to be way secretive. Any weaknesses that Tim may think he can exploit, he’s most probably wrong because even he doesn’t know batman as well as he thinks he does. Also, I don’t care how ‘masterful’ Time has gotten, he’s still an amateur compared to bruce. He’s only been doing this a few years. Bruce’s initial training before becoming the Batman took longer than Tim’s entire Robin career. Everything Tim knows and has been teaching he learned from Bruce. Add to the fact that Tim is pretty easily manipulated by his emotions, there’s just no way that the student will beat the master here.

      Savage Dragon!!!

Haha, this is a lot of fun. I’m surprised Buffy beat out Spidey. Honestly, I think one on one, Spidey would have won, but it was a really tough matchup. Buffy vs. GLC though, the odds are totally stacked against her. GLC is basically infinitely powerful, far reaching; they could annihilate her with a thought from the deep reaches of space before she could blink. Basically these are the situations in which Buffy thrives. I feel like the greater the odds are against her, the greater her chances of success. I think that GLC would be fighting with the mindset that there’s no way one super strong girl can take on the entire corps, and I think thats will be their fatal mistake. They will rely too much on their superior fire power whereas Buffy is always fighting from a disadvantage. She wants the win more and that’s why, despite being a huge GL fan, I’m giving my vote to her.

      • I voted for Buffy too. That’s one of the best things about her. You tell her she can’t do something, that it’s utterly impossible, she rallies the troops and finds a way to MAKE it possible. Basically, when it comes to Buffy, never tell her the odds.

    4. Wait, I thought Spidey was leading Buffy…Were there hanging chads?

    5. Joseph Questions

I think there are Buffy fans rigging the votes. I have a feeling Buffy will win it all unfairly. I could be wrong…

      • Agreed. It doesn’t seem like it’d be that hard.

        • Actually, a little Scottish birdie told me that the Joss Whedon fansite “Whedonesque” picked up on this and has been spreading it around!

Votes are fair, Buffy just has more friends. If you wanna level the playing field find The Green Lantern Corps their own fan-army.

          • Haha I call shenanigans on your ‘Buffy has more friends’ plea. Theres someone flat out spamming the Buffy/GL Poll.

            • GreenDayAngel

Buffy beat Spidey (as she has in previous polls from other sites)and is currently beating the Green Lantern Corp for the same reason that the Umbrella Academy is currently thrashing The Watchmen: Legions of hardcore fantypes flocking to the site (some of whom are not really comicbook people and thus care very little for anyone else in the poll) ;)

    6. LOL this was exactly what I was going to comment on…Batman and Superman already about to knocked out of the conference. Crazyness. Can’t get enough of this though. My X-Men are still going strong :)

      • Ha! Cousin Matt will hear me rant for *days* if Batman looses to The Teen Titans. He loves ‘em, I do not.

        • Yoni

Its madness if anyone truly believes that the Teen Titans could take on the Bat. What baffles me is where they’re getting such strong support from

          • Again, Tim Drake alone could take Batman. The Titans just provide backup. Thats my argument. Also, they’re likely getting support from the people being Rallied to support them, much like Buffy.

    7. The Crimson Blur

I LOVE THIS! Please let Superman beat the crap out of Savage Dragon!

    8. The Crimson Blur

And I knew Jordan would chime in with the whole Batman Vs. Teen Titans. He knows best!! haha

    9. Danny790

Whedonesque brought me here and many forums are reposting. Go Buffy go!!!!

      • jessica

        YES!!! Team Buffy!

        • Yep!! Thanks for posting guys! And no worries, I know you’re being fair. Ashley (aka Green Day Angel) called it. I put the word out personally to the MCRmy and I heard first hand that you Buffy fans picked up on it on last Selection Sunday.

Love Buffy! So stoked to have you here! – N

          • PS- If you click the N at the end of my article it takes you to my twitter, I’ll definitely follow all of you guys back!

    10. Grr. Poor Batman…

    11. Greg

      hahaha love Buffy!

    12. I just started LOLing because I realized that if Buffy wins this then this ‘fanbase’ will have to tear itself in half to vote for either Buffy or Umbrella Academy. XD

    13. Comic Booked

Watchmen are going to pull this one off!!! Wait…err…

    14. Andy

A samurai rabbit beats the god of thunder, and a fin headed cop beats the man of steel. No frakin’ way.

      • Usagi I get because of all of my DH wall posts and DH’s own, but where *is* all this Savage Dragon love, coming from?! Too awesome.

        • Greg AUbry

Erik Larsen himself has been tweeting his fans to come by and drop a vote in.

    15. Comic Booked

Can’t believe Dragon beat Superman. Good times! I saw Erik tweeting it, that rocks! Looking forward to the sweet 16!

    16. Damn that was a close battle between Savage Dragon and Superman! Although I did vote for Savage Dragon :)

    17. Ah, seriously so stoked to see both Savage Dragon and Usagi tearing it up. Their amazing victories totally have my underdog’s heart rooting for them!
