Classic Children’s Series Paddington Gets Live Action Treatment

Paddington

One of the best loved characters from my childhood, Paddington Bear, makes the leap into live action on the big screen Christmas 2014. The classic children’s story tells of a bear from Peru who comes to London to explore and is found and adopted by the Brown family. He is found in Paddington Station, so he was named Paddington Brown. Paddington has appeared in more than 20 different books written by Micheal Bond. While Paddington can get into some trouble (as do all bears, right?), he does try very hard to fix things.

While his imagination and inquisitiveness are only outstripped by his love of marmalade, this bear will win his way into the hearts of everyone. With an all star cast, this could really be an awesome Christmas movie for the whole family. Starring Nicole Kidman (Australia, Eyes Wide Shut, The Stepford Wives), Peter Capaldi (who plays the new Doctor in the upcoming season of Doctor Who), and Jim Broadbent from the Harry Potter films and Moulin Rouge, this movie has some real star power behind it. One thing I noticed in my research was that Colin Firth had been attached to this project to be the voice of Paddington, but had recently left the film. Currently, there is no listing for who the actor will be to voice this famous and well-mannered bear.

We have seen some pretty great adaptations of children’s book series, like How to Train Your Dragon and Stuart Little, so we hope that Paddington will join them as one of the classic movies that the whole family can enjoy. Coming this Christmas to a theater near you from StudioCanal.

I hope you enjoyed the trailer and please check back every day for new content here on Comic Booked. We try to keep you informed on everything from the worlds of comic books, video games, and TV/movies and everything in between.
